We're never in short supply of amazing beauty products around here, but this week we decided to kick it old school slumber party style and whip some au naturel beauty treatments in the comfort of our own, uh, tiny apartments. Here's what happened when Zoë shaved with coconut oil, Annie slathered a sweet, sweet brown sugar scrub all over her body, and Storm did an avocado mask -- i.e.
It's impossible to watch "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" without completely falling in love with Kate Hudson. She's the ultimate cool girl: confident and gorgeous with a hint of an edge. We've had plenty of "I wish I were Kate" moments, and chances are you have, too. But when we watched Kate's latest behind-the-scenes video on the set of her new ad for Almay's new Liquid Lip Balm, our obsession for the actress and mom of two grew even stronger.
It's nearly impossible to watch the stars arrive on the red carpet at an awards show and not become stricken with a serious case of hair envy. Last year we obsessed over the updos on Emma Stone, Claire Danes and Lea Michele, attempted to recreate the gorgeous looks, then failed and accepted that we'll never be able to achieve red carpet hairstyles without access to top Hollywood stylists (plus a few clip-ins).
Not only does organic beauty ingredients showcase your inner Naturalista Beauty but a face without makeup displays strong self confidence. Behind the skilled makeup artists and hairstylists celebrities have imperfections just like us. While we dwell on our own insecurities we need to realize everyone’s beauty is unique and the best beauty feature comes from within.
We all know the number one summer beauty essential item is SPF. You can’t leave the house without it and it was recently named to be the only proven anti-aging ingredient. SPF products have been made for sun protection for the body, face, hair and now lips. SPF lip balm not only protects your lips from the sun but moisturizes the lips to prevent a dry cracking and peeling pout. Beauty brands like Fresh offers tinted color options while hydrating your lips with ingredients like jojoba oil, castor oil and grapeseed oil. If you are looking for a slight pigment on your pretty pout with an added bonus of sun protection, spf lip balms are your best bet.
Everyone envies J.Lo’s glow-y skin. I know for sure I do. I rounded up 6 tips for all of us to at least attempt to achieve the J.Lo Glow the natural way.
In order to achieve smooth skin like J.Lo’s. You must have a clean foundation to work with. Gentle non-stripping cleansers are your best bet. I like to use aloe vera gel as a daily cleanser. It’s gentle, non-stripping and eliminates dirt and oil while keeping your skin’s natural oils in tact. I personally use Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera 100% Gel. An exfoliating facial scrub is a key component in getting smooth skin. Just make sure not to scrub your skin more than 2-3 times a week.
2. Minimize Pores/Reduce Acne
Do we ever see J.Lo with acne, blemishes or huge pores? I think not. So controlling and eliminating acne is so vital in achieving flawless skin. Look for ingredients such as salicylic acid, willow bark extract and tea tree oil to reduce blemishes and keep them away. Minimizing your pores will give a more youthful tighter and smoother appearance so try out one of my fave products Andalou Naturals Aloe + Willow Bark Pore Minimizer that includes witch hazel which deeply cleanses and tighten pores.
This is the most crucial step. Without moisturized skin you will never achieve this look. For my oily skin types, make sure you invest in an oil-free moisturizer. Avoid ingredients like mineral oil and petrolatum which clogs pores, aggravates acne and causes your skin to age prematurely. Invest in a moisturizer with ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid( sodium hyaluronate), and natural oils. An crucial essential bonus to a moisturizer is one with a SPF.
Moisturizing and SPF is like peanut butter and jelly. The key to great skin can not survive without a SPF. UVA/UVB rays ages skin, causes sun spots and hyperpigmentation so make sure you wear SPF daily and reapply when needed.
5 .Even Skin
I have it. We all have that one mark or scar that disrupts the flawless tone of our skin. Even skin is like that A+ I always strive for. Vitamin , Retinol and Glycolic Acid are great ingredients that will even out your skin. Glycolic acid is one of the best natural exfoliators. It safely removes dead skin cells on your skin’s surface and will fade dark spots, sun spots and age spots. I use Reviva Labs 10% Glycolic Acid cream. If you have sensitive skin, this will irritate your skin so use only once a week or use Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid cream. Remember only use this at night.
This last tip is reserved for any nightly or daily serum that will give your skin that extra oomph to your skin. Strive for an antioxidant-based serum. Great products to check out are Andalou Naturals Argan + Omega Natural Glow 3 in 1 Treatment and 100% Pure LUMINOUS PRIMER VITAMINS + ANTIOXIDANTS WITH RESVERATROL
